CLEAN UP COAL
Sept. 13, 2007 – PC Party Leader John Tory announced that a PC Government will take immediate action to install clean air technology on Ontario's coal plants, reducing toxic emissions by up to 90 per cent. “Dalton McGuinty's inaction has resulted in dirty air that contributes to hundreds of premature deaths in Ontario each year,” said Tory. “We need to clean up our coal plants now while also ensuring a reliable supply of energy.” Beginning with Nanticoke, clean air technology will be installed on Ontario's coal-burning plants. This technology can reduce toxic emissions by up to 90 per cent. [more]
